Whirlpool WP12729128 Refrigerator Defrost Heater
Genuine OEM Whirlpool WP12729128 defrost heater assembly for refrigerators. This heater mounts near the evaporator coils in the freezer section and melts frost from the coils during the automatic defrost cycle. When the heater fails, frost can build up on the coils and block airflow, causing poor cooling and freezer problems.
Key Features
- Genuine OEM Whirlpool replacement part
- Mounts directly on or near the evaporator coil assembly
- Melts frost buildup during the automatic defrost cycle
- Direct replacement for a burned out or broken defrost heater
Common Symptoms This Part Fixes
- Heavy frost buildup on the evaporator coils
- Refrigerator or freezer not cooling properly
- Freezer running warm despite the compressor running
- Ice forming on the back wall of the freezer
- Refrigerator cycling into a constant defrost or error state
Installation
Unplug the refrigerator before starting. Remove the freezer shelves and the rear access panel to expose the evaporator coil assembly. Remove the mounting clips or screws holding the old defrost heater in place and disconnect its wire connectors. Install the new heater in the same position along the coil assembly, reconnect the wire connectors, and secure the mounting clips or screws. Reinstall the access panel and shelves, plug in the refrigerator, and allow it to run a normal defrost cycle to confirm proper operation.
